5-2-1-0!

5.2.1.0!

Our school is participating in an exciting initiative  called 5-2-1-0!   5-2-1-0 is a healthy lifestyle program based on an easy to remember message which stands for:

5 or more servings of fruits and vegetables

2 hours or less recreational screen time

1 hour or more of physical activity

0 sugary drinks, more water and low fat milk.

Last week we had a great assembly and each child received a T-Shirt with the  5-1-2-0 logo on it provided by the YMCA, Mulit-Care Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital and Achieve.   Students will be encouraged to wear their shirts each Wednesday.   Classrooms that  have the highest percentage of students who wear their shirts will get an extra 15 minute recess supervised by Mrs. Crisman!

We are a Title I school!

Evergreen Elementary will be starting the 13th  year as a SCHOOLWIDE TITLE I school.  This means that ALL STUDENTS AT EVERGEEN ARE TITLE I STUDENTS!  Title I is a federally funded program developed to help schools raise the literacy and math levels of students.  The teachers, parents and especially our students benefit from this unique status.  As a School-Wide Title I school, Evergreen is able to offer high quality instruction to ALL children. It is exciting to see Evergreen Reading scores improve each year as a result of the efforts of our staff, parents and students.

In Evergreen’s School-Wide Model you will see:

  • A common focus on raising the literacy and mathematic achievement at Evergreen,
  • Certified teachers, Mrs. Brummitt, Miss Kennard and Ms. Carter heading up the School-Wide Assistance Team,
  • Classroom Teachers planning and working together with the School-Wide Assistance Team to provide individualize instruction for our highest need students,
  • Several Instructional Assistants working with the Certificated teachers to increase instructional time for ALL students,
  • Evergreen staff using continuous reading and math assessments to determine which instructional model is best for each child

Evergreen is very proud of our teachers and staff. Parents can request proof of a teachers/staff qualifications by contacting the Peninsula School District Human Resources office at 530-1000.

Please contact our school for more information about our Title I School Wide Program.
